HORSEBACK RIDING
Whether it is spring, summer, fall or winter the Smoky Mountains offers many fantastic horseback riding and sleigh ride journeys. The sleigh rides and horseback trails provide spectacular views of the Smoky Mountains through the woods, past small streams, over bridges, and through acres of beautiful scenery.
HIKING
The Great Smoky Mountains are an unparalleled range of ecologically diverse, historically rich, naturally beautiful mountains straddling the border between North Carolina and Tennessee. Great Smoky Mountains National Park is home to an amazing amount of wildlife, incredible hiking and backpacking routes, huge Appalachian views, rushing rivers, plunging waterfalls and wonderful history. This park is one not to miss!
FISHING
Fishing in the Smoky Mountains is a very popular pastime. It’s a fantastic idea for bonding with your kids, friends and even significant other, and it gets you outside having fun! You can be a novice or expert, either way you’ll find a stream in the Smokies that you can fish out of. The Little River flows right through Townsend and is a fly fishing hot spot.
CYCLING & MOUNTAIN BIKING
Exploring Townsend and the Great Smoky Mountain National Park by bike is amazing and fun way to do it – the Townsend Greenway runs right through the property and in one direction takes you shops and restaurants the other right into the gate o the Park. Whether you're riding the Cades Cove Loop or just getting around town. Pack your bikes and bring them along!
RIVER TUBING
Tubing down the Little River in Townsend is a great way to spend a hot, sunny day. There are several tubing outfitters that will pick you up and drop you off, so all you have to do is pop in and enjoy. You can start inside the park at the drop off point and float down through some amazing scenery along the way.
